AI Broker Hackathon

A one-day build sprint: design a user-first brokerage on top of the Alpaca paper-trading API, go from idea to working prototype inside the timebox with AI coding tools, and defend it live to a jury. The day opened with a panel featuring bunq, Alpaca and Lovable, then teams formed on the spot and built straight through the US market open.
- Teams were scored on eight objectives, 0 to 5 each, graded live at the laptop rather than by upload.
- The top four pitched from 16:15, with three jurors — two from Alpaca, one from bunq — scoring each pitch out of 30.
- Team Shipfaced won with Counterfactual, a forward-looking broker that maps a portfolio’s hidden dependencies and simulates how a shock cascades through them.
